The Phoenix - Battle of the Rings 2021

$0.00

This ring was constructed from 925 sterling silver and 18 karat gold. It was one of 64 rings selected for the Battle of the Rings competition in 2021 by Seattle-based Danaca Design Studio & esteemed juror Kirk Lang. Read on to learn about its creation and meaning.

The Phoenix of ancient mythology was a majestic bird that died in a dramatic show of flame and combustion as she sang her last song. Her destruction was followed by rebirth, as she rose out of the ash and took off in flight. This rings represents the Phoenix, constructed from the remains of a ring that came before. Flames were used to soften the metal, create sweeping forms and melt down the gold. 26 handmade rivets were added, representing strength in rebuilding after hardship.

Being unraveled, broken or destroyed is part of the human experience. The goodness is in knowing that there is always potential to rebuild, to mend and to gain strength through the process. The Phoenix was designed to remind the wearer of that Hope.
