The Gilded Spine
A sculptural art piece symbolizing strength and resilience. This pendant was built organically, one layer at a time within carved charcoal. The shape was refined by hand and hammer. It features layers of fused Argentium silver with 24 karat gold foil overlay, highlighting the high points. A solitary AAA, 3 mm ruby sits sunken in the metal, just offset from the center, representing the fire within.
The backside of the pendant also has gold overlay and was given just as much care and attention (last photo). This piece is reversible, should the wearer choose to keep the ruby hidden close to the body.
The pendant itself measures 60 mm long by 20 mm wide. The chain is 26 inches, designed to sit just below the breast bone. A lovely weight of 40 grams. 2mm rounded box chain with 13mm lobster clasp. Patina.
