This piece was an incredible labor of love, fabricated from sawn shards of sterling silver, enveloped in a vintage style frame of fused Argentium. A metaphorical contemplation on the way we see things.
Living in a time when many are quick to subscribe to unwavering opinion, there is fragility and vulnerability in the idea that time itself, experience, trauma, joy and an open mind can alter our viewpoint, sometimes shattering that which we held as truth.
The Fractured Looking Glass, taken as a reflective mirror, also challenges our thoughts and feelings on the image reflected back. In the absence of the ability to pause time, nothing is static; the view within the looking glass is constantly changing, maturing, evolving. It is up to the viewer to decide whether what is seen is broken or beautiful.
An objet d’art when set in its custom stand, or worn as a large statement necklace, this is my quintessential interpretation of wearable art, or art that is wearable, depending on how you see it.
